About the project

Vanadium in the Julia Creek province

Allaru lies in the Julia Creek vanadium province of north-west Queensland, in the Toolebuc Formation of the Carpentaria Basin. The project consists of eight licences covering about 1,584 square kilometres. Vanadium is the main metal of interest, and technical reviews have also pointed to potential for high-purity alumina and molybdenum as by-products.

Vanadium is a critical mineral in Canada, Australia, the United States and the European Union, on the strength of its existing use in steel and its growing use in battery energy storage.

Why vanadium

Strong steel and long-duration storage

Vanadium is used in high-strength steel and in vanadium redox flow batteries for long-duration, grid-scale energy storage. Most of the world's vanadium is recovered as a by-product of steelmaking rather than mined for its own sake, so supply follows steel economics rather than vanadium demand.

Market backdrop

A market in structural deficit

As stated in the Company's news release of 13 October 2026:

“Driven by expanding adoption in grid-scale Vanadium Redox Flow Batteries (VRFBs) for long-duration renewable energy storage and high-strength alloy demand, the global vanadium market is facing deepening structural supply deficits and tightening primary production outside of traditionally concentrated jurisdictions.”

The work ahead

What we are doing now

  1. Market research.

Continuing detailed market research on vanadium and its potential by-products.

  2. Technical review.

Bringing the historical data together into one digital database.

  3. Metallurgical studies.

Additional metallurgical studies to keep the Company's options open while its immediate attention is on Bergslagen.

Our immediate focus is Bergslagen

At Allaru we are continuing market and technical research, and evaluating strategic options for the project. We will report progress on our news page.
